About Me

(The ever-smiling,
cartoon Miles says hi.)
Well, hi there!  It's great to meet you!  I respectfully give you a firm, electronic handshake as I introduce myself.  I'm Miles.  And I write.

I started this blog at the end of June 2010, as a sort of personal project.  My dream: become an agented, published author.  My mission: chronicle my "quest" to get there.

I write just about everything, from YA (my favorite!) to occasional adult novels (though my older characters only really reach their early thirties, if that...), with an emphasis on adventure and mystery.  And yes, I always include a spicy romance to heat things up (what story isn't complete without one?).  For now, I'm keeping my projects under wraps, but who knows?  Maybe one day (hopefully sooner than later) you'll be able to check out what I've been churning up!

Random facts about me:
  • I love the colors silver and blue (I always tell myself I like one more, but then it switches five seconds later).
  • I have a dog named Ruby.  She's one of those dogs that thinks she's a human, one who lays on pillows and turns her head when she's mad at you.  Sometimes she pops up in posts...
  • I wrote my first "full" book when I was in third grade.  It was only one page long.
  • I'm a freak about grammar and spelling (well, I'm a writer, so I think that naturally comes with the territory) and correct everyone around me whether they want to be corrected or not.
  • If I could have any power, it would be invisibility.
  • I sorta kinda have an obsession with Maroon 5.
  • I believe in luck, but I also believe in hard work; in this business especially, I think you need a little bit of both to get somewhere.
  • My favorite authors are J.K. Rowling, D.J. MacHale, Kimberly Derting, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ellen Hopkins, Harper Lee, John Steinbeck, and Stephen King.
Well, that's really all there is to say.  Thanks for stopping by, and good luck to each of you on achieving your dreams!  (And though it's said a thousand and one times, NEVER GIVE UP!)
